Saturday Feast

Handed in all assignments by Friday. Finally it's time for some relaxing moments and enjoy my saturday without worries and panicking. We started off by watching the movie, Julie and Julia in the morning. We got 2 free tickets from bestie, YL at this cinema situated in Nedlands. When we reached there, we understood why it was mentioned as antique cinema on their website. It was indeed an very old cinema with only 2 cinema halls in there. The ticket booth is just a small booth which can only fits in one person. The cinema hall reminds me of Malaysia's cinema. The designs, the seatings, the chair, the screen and the exit. Everything is so much alike as Malaysia's cinema, Star Cineplex if I remember correctly. There's less than 20 people watching the movie including us and most of them are old folks. But I think it's good as we get to sit freely and you wont have the problem of people making lots if noise when you're concentrating on the movie. :)

The movie was good but not too good to me. I thought there will be more food and recipes. Towards the end, when it's about how they become the writer and the cookbook finally got publish, I almost fell asleep. I was striving to keep my eyes open. lol. After movie, we went for lunch at The Walk Cafe at Subiaco. It's a small cafe located in all of the alleys. I accidentally discoved it the last time when i went shopping with friends at Subi. I like the atmosphere and the food at the cafe. I had my favourite turkish bread with latte and soy milk. Yumm..Went home after lunch to take a rest and watched movie 'The Ugly Truth'.

Around 6.30pm, we left home to go for dinner at Kanta restaurant. I have been craving for Japanese food for the past few weeks. Time to satisfy my tummy :) We ordered lots of food that night. Before we had our entrees, they served us each a small plate of thin noodles.

P1040130

All together we ordered 6 entrees.

P1040134

My gyu-tataki, slices of beef with thin shreds of onion together with ponzu sauce which is not in the photo. I don't like raw food so it's hard to tell if it taste good. Even thou it's seared at the side. But the bf liked it.

P1040135

Rhianoon's Miso Soup.

P1040137

The bf and Michael had this for their entree. Both of them are crazy in love with this. I gave it a try and for once, I think raw beef is really nice. The raw beef is marinated with sesame oil. It was sweet in taste because of the thin apple slices underneath the raw beef.

P1040138

Rhiannon's chicken karaage. It was so so good. It's different from those we normally had at japanese restaurant. It not too oily yet there's enough fat in the chicken to make it taste wicked.

P1040140

I had chawanmushi after my beef slices. Haven't had one in ages. But I don't like the idea of having fish fillet in the steamed egg. Not so nice.

P1040142

My main. The eel was really fresh and the sauce was just nice. Because sometimes I find the sauce a bit too sweet when I had it at other japanese restaurants.

P1040147

Rhiannon's Chicken Katsu. It's good as well. The skin is really crispy but the meat wasn't too dry. P1040148

And this is the best!! Too bad this photo is blur and it's the only photo I took. The beef was so yummy. It was perfectly cooked. The meat is so tender and when you bite it, you can feel the juices in it. The sauce was awesome too. The portion is not enough for the bf. He was still hungry after that.

I ordered green tea ice-cream for dessert but I forgot to take a photo of it. It was served with lil bit of red-bean paste on top of it. It was good but I personally prefer a bitter taste green tea ice-cream. After dinner, we went for coffee at 44 King St Cafe in King St. A nice place for coffee and chatting session. I think this the place that me & bf visited the most. YL and Adam joined us after their dinner. We had some dessert as well. Lol.

P1040149

Rhiannon and her dessert. I'm not very sure what was it. All I know is it's chocolate cake topped with chocolate sauce and meringue.

P1040150

The bf and I had this. It's something special to me. Never had a baklava before. For those who don't know what baklava is, it is a Near Eastern pastry made of many layers of paper-thin dough with a filling of ground nuts, baked and then drenched in a syrup of honey and sometimes rosewater. But I don't really like it, probably just this one. I found it too hard to even cut it. The toffee ice-cream was good thou.

Now you'll understand why I put Saturday Feast as my title. Basically it's food and food all day. May not appear a lot to you but for those who knows me, it's A LOT!!! lol.

Gotta get back to revision now. Exams in one week time. Can't wait to get it over with. Have a great week ahead.

Twists & Turns

In life, sometimes when we think that everything is sticking right to our own plan, things seem to be so perfect, occasionally we get thrown a curve ball which wasn't in our plan at all. Some might get frustrated, some might look at it as a challenge and face it happily. For those who will get frustrated, things might be worse for them. They might started getting crazy, blaming everyone, everything around them, blowing off their tempers at people near them, rant about how life is unfair to them and blah blah blah... sounds familiar to you? It sounds familiar to me. lol.

We often use the same excuse. We are all human and this is our human nature. We want to change our perspectives, our way of thinking but its' hard. Because we are human, we are supposed to be weak. Sounds even more familiar to you?

What we don't realize or we understand yet never take it seriously is that all these twists and turns, these spoilers in your life is actually planned beforehand. Everything that happens to you is a part of perfect plan designed especially for you, and only you.

It's not easy to take these surprises with an open and joyful heart. However it is your choice to either doom yourself in the gloom and misery of uncertainty or forge ahead and believe that things will get better from here. Well, life wouldn't be so much fun if we always know ahead bout what's going to happen next, right?

Have fun in your life journey and Im sure I will enjoy mine. xoxo

Love NoteBook

Because, that’s the thing about love, really. No one will love you how you want to be loved, they’ll love you in the only ways they know how. Life throws everyone down drastically different paths so how can we expect everyone to love in the same way? The person you’ll spend your lifetime with will love you in their way and you’ll love in yours, and maybe you’ll meet in the middle and it’ll last. None of us know what we’re doing, you see, we’re just fumbling for matches in the dark. If you’re lucky, you might eventually just strike the right one.

Happy Birthday to my bestie ♥

Last Saturday night, we went out to celebrate bestie, YL's birthday. We had a hard time getting a restaurant as most of the restaurants that we wanted to go were either fully booked or not available due to private party. So in the end, we had dinner at this restaurant, Lamont's in East Perth.

Outlook of Lamont's

_MG_0042

Adam & bf had the same entree - Wagyu Bresola with asparagus and shallot salad, red grape mustard mayo. I tried some of it and it tasted just alright.

_MG_0045

YL's entree - Lemon Sole fillets, soft herb crumbs with sauce gribiche. I tasted this dish as well. Hmm, just okay to me too.. It's too plain to my liking.

_MG_0047

My entree - Ham hock terrine with crisp pork cheek, calvados crème fraiche. The pork cheek was not bad but the terrine had this kinda weird flavor to me & bf. It might be both of us are not used to it or it taste just weird.
_MG_0053

Bf and adam had the same main dish too - Margaret river venison with cauliflower and potatoes.
For those who doesn't know what venison is, venison is actually deer meat. For this dish, bf din't really enjoy it. The venison was not a fresh piece and the meat was quite tough.
_MG_0054
YL's main dish - Duck breast, confit duck leg brik, blood orange and walnut salad. I din't try out this dish as at the very moment YL said it doesn't taste good, I can't be bothered to taste it. According to YL, the duck breast was overcook and the sauce was terrible. She basically din't enjoy the dish.
P1040046

My main dish - Wagyu beef steak with asparagus and potatoes. which I reckon is the best main dish among all. It taste quite good but I found it a bit overcooked. It was quite hard for me to cut and chew it.

After main dish, it's time for dessert. But the desserts on the menu doesn't seem interesting to Adam & bf. We had experience the food and want to play safe with dessert. So adam & bf had cheese while myself & YL had something sweet.
_MG_0057

Adam's - Rouzaire Brie de Nangis Soft rind with quince paste and lavosh. Not cheesy enough..
P1040056

Bf's - Queso Tradicionales Valdeon D.O. Blue cheese with dried figs and pear. Only bf enjoyed this dish. YL doesn't fancy cheese and it's way too strong for me & adam.
_MG_0059

YL's - Passion fruit curd, meringue drops and strawberry. Too sweet I reckon.
P1040058

Myself - Nougatine parfait with honey caramelised figs. The safest dessert and that's the reason I chose it.

After all the food, we finally snapped some photos of human. lol.

After dinner, we had a stroll along the river outside Lamont's before we left for coffee. And it's time for more photos :P

Always my favourite couple.. :)

The bf and I..
We think that we shud give him a lesson on Camera Angle 100 because he was laughing at us when we were trying to get the best angle for our photos. But, who want to look ugly in their photos? Of course we want to look nice in our photos. Hmm, time for more photos taking with the bf. :P

Overall, none of us enjoyed the food. It was seriously disappointing and I had some much to complaint about the waitress that served us. I think none of us will ever visit the restaurant again. Lastly,

Happy Birthday YeeLing!!!

ps: some of the photos are taken by Adam's dslr..

Gardening

If you thought I'm the one who did gardening, you are really wrong. I'm not one that into gardening. I remembered I used to did so much gardening, growing vegetables to sell back in primary school but it's not for myself. I hardly remember the whole thing. All I could remember is that only a few of us, probably 3-5 of us spent quite some time in the gardens behind our classroom each day, growing some vegetables and at the end of the day, we sold it somewhere. By the mean of growing, I not talking about just pour the seed into the soil and water it. Basically we did everything from the very scratch. I could remember that the fertilizer that we used was chicken's excrement and it was really smelly. Ugghhh..

The one that did gardening is actually the bf. The bf wants to have fresh ingredients for his cooking so he thought of growing them at home. Another reason would be saving on costs as he uses them frequently. This morning after having breakkie with the series, Dexter, bf started his gardening routine. Since I have never actually get to know what he's growing, so I took my camera out and followed him to the backyard. To be honest, I was surprised of how serious he was when it comes to gardening. Well, at least I never thought he would be. :P

Let me show you some photos of his plants and please correct me if I'm wrong with the name of the plants. I'm seriously don't have a clue when it comes to plants.

A closer look..TomatoesFlowers from tomato plants..MintThyme
Thyme again..Not sure what are these. I'm sure he told me but I totally forgot about it..

There's actually two more plants but I couldn't recognize what are they so I decided not to post it up until I figure out what are they ;D Cant wait for them to grow and I can get to enjoy fresh vege and herbs..

Expectation and Disappointment

Expectation leads to disappointment.
The higher expectations you have, the greater disappointment you'll get.

Been telling myself this so often lately.. Stop expecting..But it's not working.
I hate feeling this way.. Never knew I would be this vulnerable and being such stubborn that I hate to admit this.. Gosh.. I'm driving myself crazy..

How to stop expecting? I need help..

A night with ♥

Listening to Kenny G's & For the First Time by Kenny Loggins over and over again..
Love Kenny G's The Wedding Song especially..
Feeling warm and fuzzy and having a smile on my face..

I'm so glad I found you, I must be really lucky to have you.
Just when I thought I couldn't be anymore in love, you proved me wrong.
Man, I had a fantabulous night.. Everything was so simple yet it filled me with love..
All the lil gestures, all the sweet words, the sensitivity, the patience.. everything that you've done.. it just melted my heart again and again.. and tonight we had a promise, something to look so forward to..

"I'm yours.. You're my lil baby.."

Man, you just heal my heart without knowing.. Thank U for the 87253416th time.. Loving me, accepting me and being my best friend..

I love you..always and hopefully forever..

Black Monday

It was the worst monday ever. Many things were screwed up and I was very near to throwing my tantrum. Luckily I was managed to hold it, trying hard to digest it and in the end I was just showing the unfriendly face occasionally.

I woke up with feeling extremely unwell. I think it has something to do with my medication which I have been taking for a week. I feel so weak and got tired easily. Dizziness and headache were like bees sticking to honey, following me the whole day. I actually woke up at 9 in the morning but took a nap after breakfast because I couldn't fight the dizziness. Woke up an hour and a half later, drove for 20 minutes, took another nap again before I got woke up by a phone call. It's from my groupmate. At the very last minutes,2 hours away from presentation, she told me the slides weren't ready yet. I was shocked and got so pissed off that I hang up before she could say 'goodbye hun'. Our house was having blackout at that moment and I couldn't get access to internet. The only way is to go over to uni and get it done. Got myself ready in dark and can't really figure out what I was doing. Head to uni, searched for parking which I hate the most, searched for available computer which annoyed me every single time, before I could settled down, it was one hour away from the actual thing. Rushed to get the work done and only had a bottle of coke and M&Ms as my lunch. Was supposed to have a rehearsal before we go for the real thing. Who knew out of 5 of us, only myself and another girl were prepared for it. The others were kind of clueless about it and only wrote their script half an hour away from the presentation. As you can guess, we got no time for rehearsal and went on stage, did the lousiest job ever. Gahhhh..I almost went crazy at that minute itself.

I left right after the presentation, trying to sort out another assignment. And again, problems kept popping up. Usually, I wouldn't mind fixing all these. But definitely not when I was feeling extremely uneasy and was kind of starving. Stayed in uni until 6ish, went back home to get a quick shower, managed to get the electricity back ( by turning on and off with the main switch, must be the roadwork near my house this morning that affected it) and head out to bf's coussie place for dinner with his family and coussies. It was a long dinner with more than 30 people. We had steamboat. I felt quite bad as I wasn't feeling well thus I was showing quite a bit of the unfriendly face. The bf was being nice, pampering me, kept me company, talked to me and hugged me tight. And I being the bad one complaint about him being not sensitive enough :P. Sorry bf :)

Just got home around 12 just then and immediately knocked on housemate's door and then the crying and complaining drama started. CY said I looked like a small bird making noise in the loud and high-pitch way. lol.. Thank you girl for listening to me and also Sarah, DY and YL for keeping me company through sms during the time at bf's coussie place. I was kind of lost as I don't understand Hokkien!!!!!!!! It's irritating!!!!!!! Gosh...

Now I'm sitting in front of my lappie (obviously), having a glass of coke and going to watch a movie to pamper myself for a bit. I need it before I go crazy again. Coke is like my medecine. Well, at least Im smiling now..That's the story of my black monday. Time for movie. Nitess.. :)

Random I know.. it's just been quite a while since I last taken a decent self-photo..

Congratulations to my man

It's the man's convocation today. Other than him and also my bestie, Adam, I've got quite a few friends graduating on the same day as well. Went for the ceremony with his parents and his sis. Again, it's boring. Luckily, this year's ceremony is shorter than the one that I attended previously. At least I din't feel asleep during the ceremony. But the man actually did fell asleep himself. lol. One disappointment is that there's no any fireworks this time round. :( It used to be something I look forward to..

A pass to the ceremony. Guess how much it worth? Near to 40aud for one tix. Bet they're earning heaps from convo alone.
The look of the hall.. The stage is where those chancellor, guest speakers, professors or distinguished staff are seated while at the front part is where the graduates are seated.
My uni..
Adam & my man.. Pink for business & yellow for engineering. Adam receiving his certificate from the chancellor.
with the man's family.. His dad was so happy for him that he gave him a big tight hug right after the ceremony.
Dear Shirlene is graduating on the same day too..
My way of expressing congratulations to her.. :D
My man..

Congratulation my man. I'm really happy and proud of you. I've seen how much hard work and efforts you put in through this long and challenging journey. It was tough yet you never give up. Your achievement is awesome. Now you're officially an engineer and stepping into another chapter of your life. May you earn big bucks and achieve your dreams real soon. I love you and think you're the very best
