Handed in all assignments by Friday. Finally it's time for some relaxing moments and enjoy my saturday without worries and panicking. We started off by watching the movie, Julie and Julia in the morning. We got 2 free tickets from bestie, YL at this cinema situated in Nedlands. When we reached there, we understood why it was mentioned as antique cinema on their website. It was indeed an very old cinema with only 2 cinema halls in there. The ticket booth is just a small booth which can only fits in one person. The cinema hall reminds me of Malaysia's cinema. The designs, the seatings, the chair, the screen and the exit. Everything is so much alike as Malaysia's cinema, Star Cineplex if I remember correctly. There's less than 20 people watching the movie including us and most of them are old folks. But I think it's good as we get to sit freely and you wont have the problem of people making lots if noise when you're concentrating on the movie. :)
The movie was good but not too good to me. I thought there will be more food and recipes. Towards the end, when it's about how they become the writer and the cookbook finally got publish, I almost fell asleep. I was striving to keep my eyes open. lol. After movie, we went for lunch at The Walk Cafe at Subiaco. It's a small cafe located in all of the alleys. I accidentally discoved it the last time when i went shopping with friends at Subi. I like the atmosphere and the food at the cafe. I had my favourite turkish bread with latte and soy milk. Yumm..Went home after lunch to take a rest and watched movie 'The Ugly Truth'.
Around 6.30pm, we left home to go for dinner at Kanta restaurant. I have been craving for Japanese food for the past few weeks. Time to satisfy my tummy :) We ordered lots of food that night. Before we had our entrees, they served us each a small plate of thin noodles.
All together we ordered 6 entrees.
My gyu-tataki, slices of beef with thin shreds of onion together with ponzu sauce which is not in the photo. I don't like raw food so it's hard to tell if it taste good. Even thou it's seared at the side. But the bf liked it.
Rhianoon's Miso Soup.
The bf and Michael had this for their entree. Both of them are crazy in love with this. I gave it a try and for once, I think raw beef is really nice. The raw beef is marinated with sesame oil. It was sweet in taste because of the thin apple slices underneath the raw beef.
Rhiannon's chicken karaage. It was so so good. It's different from those we normally had at japanese restaurant. It not too oily yet there's enough fat in the chicken to make it taste wicked.
I had chawanmushi after my beef slices. Haven't had one in ages. But I don't like the idea of having fish fillet in the steamed egg. Not so nice.
My main. The eel was really fresh and the sauce was just nice. Because sometimes I find the sauce a bit too sweet when I had it at other japanese restaurants.
Rhiannon's Chicken Katsu. It's good as well. The skin is really crispy but the meat wasn't too dry.
And this is the best!! Too bad this photo is blur and it's the only photo I took. The beef was so yummy. It was perfectly cooked. The meat is so tender and when you bite it, you can feel the juices in it. The sauce was awesome too. The portion is not enough for the bf. He was still hungry after that.
I ordered green tea ice-cream for dessert but I forgot to take a photo of it. It was served with lil bit of red-bean paste on top of it. It was good but I personally prefer a bitter taste green tea ice-cream. After dinner, we went for coffee at 44 King St Cafe in King St. A nice place for coffee and chatting session. I think this the place that me & bf visited the most. YL and Adam joined us after their dinner. We had some dessert as well. Lol.
Rhiannon and her dessert. I'm not very sure what was it. All I know is it's chocolate cake topped with chocolate sauce and meringue.
The bf and I had this. It's something special to me. Never had a baklava before. For those who don't know what baklava is, it is a Near Eastern pastry made of many layers of paper-thin dough with a filling of ground nuts, baked and then drenched in a syrup of honey and sometimes rosewater. But I don't really like it, probably just this one. I found it too hard to even cut it. The toffee ice-cream was good thou.
Now you'll understand why I put Saturday Feast as my title. Basically it's food and food all day. May not appear a lot to you but for those who knows me, it's A LOT!!! lol.
Gotta get back to revision now. Exams in one week time. Can't wait to get it over with. Have a great week ahead.
